Stearns named Forester Athlete of the Week FOR RELEASE October 31, 2005 HUNTINGTON, IN—The Huntington University Athletic Department announced its Athlete of the Week for the week of October 24-30, 2005. Volleyball sophomore Stephanie Stearns earned the honor for her excellent efforts during the week’s competitions. Stephanie Stearns, a sophomore from New Castle, Ind. (New Castle Chrysler High School), continues to shine throughout the volleyball season as the Foresters’ libero. In each of Huntington’s 27 matches this season, Stearns has led the team in digs. Her 6.98 digs per game average is also tops in the Mid-Central Conference. In addition, she leads the team with 47 aces and her .49 ace per game average is second in the MCC. The Foresters currently stand at 16-11 on the season with one week of the regular season to play. Huntington will next travel to Spring Arbor, Mich., to take on the Cougars on Wednesday, November 2, 2005, at 7 p.m. Huntington University is a comprehensive Christian college of the liberal arts offering graduate and undergraduate programs in more than 70 academic concentrations.
