Indiana Beta Chapter of Alpha Chi inducts 15 scholars

HUNTINGTON, IN— Huntington University welcomed 15 new members into the Indiana Beta Chapter of Alpha Chi in a convocation held today in the Merillat Centre for the Arts. Students were recognized for their superior academics and exceptional character.

“Membership in Alpha Chi is the highest academic honor at Huntington University and represents both a recognition of scholastic achievement and a commitment to promoting academic excellence on and off campus,” Dr. Paul E. Michelson, distinguished professor of history and chapter sponsor for the Indiana Beta Chapter of Alpha Chi, said.

The following students at Huntington University received induction into Alpha Chi in 2005:

  • Robyn Althoff, an elementary education major from Stevensville, Mich.
  • Rebekah Gene Bachman, a theatre performance major from Columbus, Mich.
  • Katherine P. Brautigam, a psychology major from Huntington, Ind.
  • Drew Clay, an accounting major from Van Wert, Ohio
  • Kelly Ann Daniels, a family and children’s ministry major from Amherst, Ohio
  • Katie Dinkins, an elementary education major from Francesville, Ind.
  • Aaron Daniel Eberly, an instrumental music education major from Ligonier, Ind.
  • Ashleigh Lewis, a theatre design and technology major from Bloomington, Ill.
  • Chris Schubert, a youth ministry major from Huntington, Ind.
  • Tracy Ruth Schwerin, an English education major from Flanagan, Ill.
  • Jonathan Andrew Stotts, an English major from Angola, Ind.
  • Toni A. Thomas, a choral education major from Markle, Ind.
  • Kristi D. Thompson, an English education major from West Jefferson, Ohio
  • Nathaniel Kyle Wood, a philosophy major from Martinsville, Ind.
  • Laura Wright, an elementary education major from Muncie, Ind.

Alpha Chi is a national honor society for undergraduate juniors and seniors in all academic disciplines. In 1997, it celebrated 75 years of activity. Its objectives are the stimulation, development and recognition of scholarship and those elements of scholarship that make scholarship effective for good.

The Indiana Beta Chapter of Alpha Chi National Honor Scholarship Society was established in 1967. It is active in the regional and national activities of Alpha Chi and was named the National Chapter of the Year in 2001. This past year, for the 10th consecutive year, the Indiana Beta Chapter was selected as a Star Chapter of Alpha Chi.

The motto of Alpha Chi nationally is the same as that of Huntington University: “You shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free.”
