Forester Lecture Series welcomes Bill & Gloria Gaither

FOR RELEASE September 16, 2005

Bill and Gloria Gaither will present "Worship: Past, Present, Future" on October 3..

HUNTINGTON, IN— Bill and Gloria Gaither, pioneers in Christian music and recording, will give an upcoming Forester Lecture in the Zurcher Auditorium of the Merillat Centre for the Arts on October 3, 2005. “Christian Music: Past, Present, Future” will be the topic of the 7 p.m. lecture, which is open to the public and free of charge.

Four hundred tickets will be available to the general public beginning Monday, September 19, and may be obtained from the MCA ticket office.  There will be a limit of two tickets per person.  All tickets are free. Any remaining tickets will be available at the door. To reserve tickets, call the MCA ticket office at (260) 359-4261.

Married for more than 40 years, Bill and Gloria Gaither have shared a mutual commitment to a “larger purpose” and to that which is lasting. As a result of this philosophy, their union has produced over 700 songs, numerous recordings and awards, a dozen musicals, a collection of books, and a strong sense of family. In affirmation of their contribution to the gospel music industry, they have been recipients of many Grammies and Dove Awards, as well as the ASCAP (American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers) Songwriters of the Century Award. In addition, they have been inducted into the Gospel Music Hall of Fame and Museum.

Out of a sincere heart to help young adults pursue excellence through Christian education, Gloria Gaither has been a dynamic voice serving on the Board of Directors for both the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities (CCCU) and the United Christian College Fund. Bill Gaither has traveled around the globe for four decades singing the Gospel, and with numerous awards and honors, his dedication lies within helping others succeed. Successful Christian music careers have been launched when artists received their start with the Gaither Vocal Band or touring with the Homecoming artists.

The lecture compliments Huntington University’s new program in Worship Leadership, which began offering courses this semester. The Worship Leadership program offers a unique combination of ministry leadership preparation and specialized skill development in such fields as music, multimedia and theatre. Students learn the foundational skills and knowledge for serving God and the community of faith through the spiritual discipline of worship.

Huntington University presents the Forester Lecture Series each semester. The lectures are designed to bring interesting persons and topics to the attention of students and the regional community.
