High School Art Exhibit award winners announced FOR RELEASE March 27, 2006 HUNTINGTON, IN—Huntington University recently hosted a high school art exhibit from March 7-25, 2006, in the Robert E. Wilson Gallery of the Merillat Centre for the Arts. Ninety-eight students, grades nine through 12, from nine high schools were represented at the show. Participating high schools included the following:
“We wanted to provide an opportunity for regional high school students to have a professional quality exhibit to showcase their work,” said Professor Rebecca Coffman, professor of art. “It’s also a great opportunity to introduce them to Huntington University. Most importantly, we want to celebrate the visual arts being created by high school students in this area.” The competition was open to high school students within a 150-mile radius of the University. The exhibition awards were juried by Huntington University Department of Visual Arts faculty including Professor Rebecca Coffman, professor of art, and Professor Andrew Dickson, assistant professor of art. Best of show, first place, second place, and third place awards along with cash prizes were given. The awards reception was held on March 25, 2006.
