HU to present evening of big band and jazz music
The nearly 80-voice choir under the direction of conductors, George Killian and Hersel Cremeans, will perform popular jazz favorites, such as Charlie Chaplin’s “Smile,” Nat King Cole’s “Straighten Up and Fly Right,” Hoagy Carmichael’s “Georgia on My Mind” and Louis Prima’s “Sing, Sing, Sing,” along with many others. The Blue River Big Band, made up of professional musicians from the Columbia City area, will be performing several toe-tappin’ big band songs. Directed by the Todd Ward, the band will mark its second collaboration with the Huntington University Concert Choir. This is a general seating event. Tickets will be available at the door or may be reserved by calling the Merillat Centre for the Arts Box Office at (260) 359-4261.
