Kreps, Nalliah acknowledged with July Peer Awards

HUNTINGTON, IN—Recipients of the Huntington University Peer Award for the month of July are Cindy Kreps and Dr. Ruth Nalliah.

Shannon Wilson, admissions counselor, passed the Peer Award to Cindy Kreps.  Kreps is the financial aid secretary/loan processor and has been with Huntington University for one year.  In recognizing Kreps, Wilson said, “Cindy has been invaluable to the financial aid office.  From filing, to loan processing, to answering many concerned parent phone calls and everything in between, she always has a smile on her face and is willing to help.  I appreciate her flexibility in helping me when I come in last minute with a change or need help finding a student’s paperwork.  We’re blessed to have Cindy here.” 

Dr. Ruth Nalliah receives the Peer Award from Dr. Francis Jones.

Dr. Francis Jones, professor of mathematical sciences, passed the Peer Award to Dr. Ruth Nalliah.   Nalliah is associate professor of chemistry and has been with Huntington University for 11 years.  In recognizing Nalliah, Jones said, “I have appreciated Ruth’s lively role in the Division of Natural and Mathematical Sciences.  Her comments and recommendations in division meetings are always taken seriously because we’ve come to recognize that she is a wise colleague.  I’ve appreciated her willingness to tackle tough issues and ask hard questions both in the division, as well as in the faculty or committee meetings.  She has also worked hard in helping to develop the nursing program.  Her attention to detail extends even to her display cases, which are fresh and informative.  Her work and creativity have inspired me and others to do a better job with our display areas.   

“I’ve also appreciated the fact that she is active in science, as demonstrated by her offices in professional organizations and her research projects.  She has a great enthusiasm for chemistry and science in general, which she shares with her students and colleagues in a variety of creative ways.  She has mentored several student assistants during her research program.  In her core course, she does very engaging demonstrations that I’m sure the class will long remember. 

“Ruth is not all work.  She has a keen sense of humor and enjoys practical jokes.  When it is time to surprise someone for attaining an age-milestone or for coming back from a sabbatical leave, or for whatever opportunity presents itself, she can be counted upon to be involved.”
