Sharpe takes over Huntington women's soccer team FOR RELEASE June 30, 2006 Huntington, Ind.—Huntington University announced that Nathan Sharpe will join the Athletic Department as head coach of the women’s soccer program. Sharpe brings a variety of playing and coaching experience to the position. As a keeper for Lenawee Christian High School, Sharpe earned All-State honors as a junior and senior. He continued his playing career in college, playing four years at Moody Bible Institute. After graduating from Moody with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Education in 2000, Sharpe took a teaching position at Freedom Baptist School in Hudsonville, Mich., and immediately started a girls' soccer program there. In 2002, he took over the boys' program and led them to a state championship. As a coach, Sharpe also has earned the National Soccer Coaches Association Advanced Regional diploma as well as level one and two diplomas for goalkeeping. “We are excited to have Nate join our coaching staff,” said Athletic Director Gary Turner. “He has been very successful at a variety of levels and brings a great enthusiasm for the sport to HU. His soccer experience and knowledge give him the tools to take our women’s program to the next level. We are looking forward to having Nate and his family join the HU community.” Sharpe, his wife Alison and their soon to be two-year-old son Payton will immediately be thrust into campus life as Alison also joins HU’s staff as Resident Director of Baker and Roush Halls.
