Donaldson, Kock named Forester Athletes of Week

HUNTINGTON, IN—The Huntington University Athletic Department announced its Athletes of the Week for the week of Feb. 12-18. Women’s basketball freshman Jenna Donaldson and men’s basketball senior Alex Kock earned the honor for their outstanding efforts during the week’s competition.

Jenna Donaldson

Jenna Donaldson, an entrepreneurial small business management major from Auburn, Ind. (DeKalb High School), helped lead Huntington to two wins to close out the regular season and was also named the Mid-Central Conference Newcomer of the Year. Donaldson took game-high honors with 20 points and nine rebounds in the Foresters’ 69-55 win over Goshen and then chipped in 11 points and five boards in Huntington’s 74-54 victory at Grace. Donaldson was the top vote-getter among the freshmen and newcomers to the MCC. As a starter for the Foresters, Donaldson averaged 11.4 points and 5.5 rebounds per game to earn the honor. Huntington now heads into postseason play as the fifth seed in the MCC tournament. The Foresters (16-10) will travel to Taylor University for their first round game on Feb. 20 at 7 p.m.

Alex Kock

Alex Kock, a physical education and health major from Auburn, Ind. (DeKalb High School), garnered his third consecutive MCC Player of the Year award with this one being a unanimous vote. Kock led the MCC in scoring at 23.6 points per game and was second in rebounding with his 9.8 boards per game. Kock also helped Huntington secure the top seed in the upcoming MCC tournament with two wins on the week. He netted 23 points and grabbed nine rebounds in the Foresters’ 71-58 victory over Goshen and in the Foresters’ 81-69 win over Grace, he topped all scorers in the game with 24 points and he added eight boards. Huntington (26-4) begins postseason play when they host Marian College on Feb. 21 at 7 p.m. in first-round MCC tournament action.
