Fillman, Sanders earn Athlete of Week honors FOR RELEASE April 30, 2007 HUNTINGTON, IN—The Huntington University Athletic Department announced its Athletes of the Week for the week of April 23-29. Women’s track senior Brittany Fillman and men’s track junior Joel Sanders earned the honor for their outstanding efforts during the week’s competition. Brittany Fillman, an English education major from Markle, Ind. (Norwell High School), ran a personal best time of 58.73 to win the 400 meter dash at the Mid-Central Conference Championships. Her victory garnered her All-Conference honors for the third consecutive year. Fillman also ran a leg of the 4x400 relay that took first with a time of 3:59.57 and the 4x800 relay that finished second in 9:33.80. Both relays met qualification standards to compete in the NAIA National Championships in May. Joel Sanders, an elementary education major from Fort Wayne, Ind. (Snider High School), helped lead the Foresters to a fourth place finish in the Mid-Central Conference with two individual wins. He took first in the 800 meter run with a time of 1:55.39, and he posted the winning time of 4:04.27 in the 1500 meter run. He also was one of three Foresters to earn All-Conference honors.
