Wilson, Njeri named Athletes of the Week FOR RELEASE September 11, 2006 HUNTINGTON, IN—The Huntington University Athletic Department announced its Athletes of the Week for the week of Sept. 4-10. Women’s volleyball senior Amy Wilson and men’s cross country runner freshman Joseph Njeri earned the honors for their outstanding efforts during the week’s competitions. Amy Wilson, a middle grades math education major from Wabash, Ind. (Northfield High School), helped lead Huntington to a 4-1 week that included winning the Defiance College Tournament. In four of the five matches, Wilson led the Foresters in kills with a total of 60 for the week with a .310 hitting percentage. She also had a team-high 11 aces during the week and added 65 digs with a .910 passing percentage. Huntington is currently 7-2 on the season and will host MCC foe Taylor University on Sept. 13 at 7 p.m. Joseph Njeri, a sociology major from Nairobi, Kenya, had a stellar performance in the first race of his career for Huntington. Running solely against NCAA Division I competition, the freshman crossed the finish line first for the Foresters placing 13th with a time of 26:57. The Forester harriers will next compete in the Indiana Intercollegiates at Indiana State University on Sept. 15 at 3:30 p.m. Huntington University is a comprehensive Christian college of the liberal arts offering graduate and undergraduate programs in more than 70 academic concentrations.
