Indiana Beta Chapter of Alpha Chi inducts 20 members

HUNTINGTON, IN—Huntington University inducted 20 new members into the Indiana Beta Chapter of Alpha Chi in a convocation held today in the Merillat Centre for the Arts. Students were recognized for their superior academics and exceptional character.

“Membership in Alpha Chi is the highest academic honor at Huntington University and represents both a recognition of scholastic achievement and a commitment to promoting academic excellence on- and off-campus,” said Dr. Paul E. Michelson, distinguished professor of history and chapter sponsor for the Indiana Beta Chapter of Alpha Chi.

Students were inducted into Alpha Chi during a ceremony Friday.

The following students at Huntington University received induction into Alpha Chi in 2006:

  • Nicole Blue, a junior double major in accounting and economics & finance from Middlebury, Ind.

  • Katrina Bonahoom, a junior business management major from Warsaw, Ind.

  • Antoinette Feldpausch, a junior economics & finance major from St. Johns, Mich.

  • Christianne Gates, a junior history major from Hodges, S.C.

  • Andrew Hetrick, a junior computer science major from Fort Wayne, Ind.

  • Christopher Hoffman, a junior entrepreneurial small business major from Fort Wayne, Ind.

  • Emily Horne, a junior psychology major from Columbia City, Ind.

  • Anna Grace Jeter, a junior English education major from Findlay, Ohio

  • Hannah Kaufman, a junior biology major from Ada, Mich.

  • Kevin Keller, a junior mathematics major from Strasburg, Pa.

  • Sarah Keyse, a junior economics & finance major from Sharpsville, Ind.

  • Sarah Lang, a junior double major in journalism and public relations from Findlay, Ohio

  • Rebekah Posegate, a junior double major in theatre education and theatre performance from Lake Villa, Ill.

  • Travis Schamber, a junior pre-med major from Van Buren, Ind.

  • Stephanie Stearns, a junior accounting major from New Castle, Ind.

  • Trista Watson, a junior visual arts education major from Chambersburg, Pa.

  • Joel Wentz, a junior music business major from Greencastle, Pa.

  • Abbey Marie Whiteman, a junior double major in elementary education and middle grades science education from Yoder, Ind.

  • Naomi Woods, a junior political studies major from Hillsdale, Mich.

  • Erin Yost, a junior double major in elementary education and special education from Huntington, Ind.

Alpha Chi is a national honor society for undergraduate juniors and seniors in all academic disciplines. In 1997, it celebrated 75 years of activity. Its objectives are the stimulation, development and recognition of scholarship and those elements of scholarship that make scholarship effective for good.

The Indiana Beta Chapter of Alpha Chi National Honor Scholarship Society was established in 1967. It is active in the regional and national activities of Alpha Chi and was named the National Chapter of the Year in 2001. In 2006, for the 11th consecutive year, the Indiana Beta Chapter was selected as a Star Chapter of Alpha Chi.

The motto of Alpha Chi nationally is the same as that of Huntington University: “You shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”
