FOR RELEASE April 16, 2007

HUNTINGTON, IN—Recipients of the Huntington University Peer Award for the month of April are Becky Lyons and Dr. Todd Martin.

Bob Holmes and Carl Leatherman, who both serve in the Merillat Complex for Physical Education and Recreation, passed the Peer Award to Becky Lyons. Lyons has been bookkeeper in the Business Office at the university for 15 years.

In recognizing Lyons, Holmes and Leatherman said, “Becky is so very kind. She is a joy every morning when she comes to the MCPER to swim, and she always gives us our payroll checks. She is a very nice person. Becky is a competent employee, and I give her the apartment rent and laundry money, and she brings receipts back to me. Becky never complains, and she enjoys lap swimming. She is a good mother and grandmother, too.”

Twyla Lee passes the Peer Award to Dr. Todd Martin.

Twyla Lee, associate professor of social work and director of the social work program, passed the Peer Award to Dr. Todd Martin. Martin is associate professor of English and has been with Huntington University for seven years

In recognizing Martin, Lee said, “My earliest interaction with Todd was working collaboratively in developing a partnership with Food For The Hungry and their GoED Africa program. He was conscientious, thorough, responsible, timely, responsive, constructively critical, and conducted himself with great integrity. His quiet, yet assertive spirit is what I truly admire in a colleague. I have confidence that if Todd is involved with an endeavor it will be done well and purposefully.  He is truly committed to quality and diversity of educational experiences for HU students. His work with colleagues is collaborative and intentional. I look forward to continued interaction with this gifted and thoughtful professor. In a less formal way, I have observed his devotion to his family and importance of his faith. These are very important factors in being a positive role model for persons with whom he interacts. I see it as a privilege to be on faculty with Todd Martin.”
