Forester Lecture Series to feature filmmaker

FOR RELEASE February 27, 2007

Barbara Nicolosi

Huntington, Ind.—Barbara Nicolosi, founder and executive director of Act One, Inc., will be featured in the Forester Lecture Series at 7 p.m. on March 13 in the Zurcher Auditorium of the Merillat Centre for the Arts. She will speak on the subject of Christian faith and the craft of filmmaking.

Nicolosi received a Master of Arts in film from Northwestern University in Evanston, Ill., and has written several screenplays, including “The Work,” a film set during the Spanish Civil War and “Select Society,” both of which are currently in production. In addition, she has served as a panelist for the National Endowment for the Arts and as a consultant on many film and television projects. Nicolosi recently co-edited the book “Behind the Screen: Hollywood Insiders on Faith, Film, and Culture” that is published by Baker Books.

Act One, Inc., is an interdenominational training program preparing Christians for professional careers in mainstream film and television. The organization describes its defining initiative as an intense four-week scriptwriting workshop that includes skill training, study of the screen art form, mentorships with established industry professionals, and prayer and fellowship with other writers. The program began in Los Angeles but has branched out into other cities including New York, Washington D.C., and Chicago.

The event is free and open to public. For more information about the Forester Lecture Series, log on to www.huntington.edu/fls/.
