Co Hoedeman to share his passion for animation

HUNTINGTON, IN—Huntington University’s Forester Lecture Series will feature Co Hoedeman, an Oscar-winning film animator, on Oct. 2 at 7 p.m. in the Zurcher Auditorium of the Merillat Centre for the Arts.

Hoedeman will discuss his passion for animation and filmmaking in his lecture “For the Love to Make It Move.” The lecture is open to the public free of charge.

Hoedeman has received more than 80 international awards and honors, including an Oscar in 1978 for best animated short for his film titled “The Sand Castle.” He was born in Amsterdam and immigrated to Canada at age 25. After joining the National Film Board, he created his first film, “Oddball,” in 1969.

According to the National Film Board, Hoedeman is a delightfully curious and imaginative animator who produces charming films of great sensitivity. He has delivered more than 20 enchanting films, including his most recent film “Marianne’s Theatre.”
