Four to be inducted into Huntington's Hall of Fame FOR RELEASE November 14, 2006 HUNTINGTON, IN—On Saturday, November 18, 2006, four individuals will be inducted into the Huntington University Athletics Hall of Fame. This year’s honorees include 1986 graduate, Lori Culler, 1983 graduate, Greg Fiedler, 1983 graduate, Greg Glancy and 1993 graduate Joanne (Miller) Green.
Lori Culler of Huntington, Ind., is being honored for her significant contribution to the Huntington University women’s basketball program during the years of 1982-1985 and for her success as head coach of the women’s basketball program from 1986 to the present. After spending a year at Shippensburg University in Pennsylvania, Culler made her way to Huntington in the fall of 1982. As a basketball player, Culler helped lead the Foresters to their first National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) national title during her junior year, and as a senior, she earned NAIA All-District, NAIA Scholar-Athlete and NAIA Honorable Mention All-America honors. She scored 1307 points during her three years and now stands ninth on the all-time scorers list. After earning her degree in May of 1986, Culler took the reins of the women’s basketball program the following fall. During her 20 seasons at the helm, the Foresters have won seven Mid-Central Conference (MCC) titles, a MCC Conference Tournament title and two NCCAA national titles. Culler’s players have earned 21 NAIA or NCCAA All-America honors, 19 All-America Scholar-Athlete honors and 38 MCC All-Conference honors. Throughout her tenure, she has been named Coach of the Year 10 times and she is currently the winningest basketball coach in Huntington University history with 348 victories.
Greg Fiedler of Huntington, Ind., is being honored for his significant contribution to the Huntington University men’s soccer program during the years of 1978-1982. Fiedler made an instant impact on the program scoring a team-high nine goals as a freshman. He went on to lead the Foresters in goals scored in each of his four seasons of competition and finished his career averaging 12 goals per season. He was a four-time MCC All-Conference player and he earned NAIA and NCCAA All-District honors his final three years. In his final season, Fiedler added NSCAA Second Team All-Mid-East, NCCAA Second Team All-America and NAIA All-America Scholar-Athlete honors to his résumé.
Greg Glancy of Huntington, Ind., is being honored for his significant contribution to the Huntington University men’s basketball program during the years of 1979-1983. Glancy left his mark on the Forester basketball program with his soft shooting touch. As a freshman, he gave the coaching staff a glimpse of what was to come by leading the team in field goal percentage. As a sophomore, his statistics earned him MCC All-Conference recognition and as a junior, he led the team in scoring until an injury sidelined him midway through the season. Glancy returned for his senior campaign with a vengeance. He again led the team in scoring at 18.0 ppg and led the nation with his free throw percentage. As a result, he was a MCC All-Conference and NCCAA All-District selection and he earned NCCAA Second Team All-America honors. He concluded his career with 1406 points, which is currently 17th on Huntington’s all-time list of scorers.
Joanne (Miller) Green of Columbia City, Ind., is being honored for her significant contribution to the Huntington University women’s basketball program during the years of 1989-1993. As a freshman, Green wasted no time establishing herself as an offensive force. She averaged 9.4 points per game (ppg) while shooting 46% from the field in her “sixth man” role during her first year. Throughout her final three seasons, she averaged double digits in scoring each year with her high coming her junior year at 19.1 ppg. In January of her senior year, Green took over the top spot on Huntington’s all-time list of scorers and finished her career with 1906 points, one of five school records she owned at the time of her graduation. During her four years, Green’s play was instrumental in leading the Foresters to a perfect 34-0 record in MCC competition and a 103-21 overall record as well as back-to-back NCCAA national championships in 1991 and 1992. Green was a three-time MCC All-Conference and NAIA and NCCAA All- District player and twice was named the NCCAA National Tournament Most Valuable Player. As a junior and senior, she earned NAIA and NCCAA Scholar-Athlete honors and was a First Team NCCAA All-American and a NAIA Honorable Mention All-American.
