HUNTINGTON, IN—Huntington University’s Department of Communication and the digital media arts program invite the public to attend their Spring Media Showcase.

See the latest in student and faculty productions—everything from animations, live action, stop motion, music videos and more. The showcase will begin at 7:30 p.m. on May 9 at the historic downtown Huntington Theater on Jefferson Street. Admission is free, but seating is limited.

“We are so excited to host this year’s Media Showcase at the downtown Huntington Theater,” said Dr. Lance Clark, associate professor of communication. “There is so much history and nostalgia with the theater that it will be a real honor to showcase our student work at this location.”

Clark will debut his short film “Return” at the showcase. In May of 2006, Clark directed the movie using Huntington University film studies students. “Return” was inspired by the true life story of Alejandra Gutierrez who was abducted and murdered in Indiana.

Clark said that as a father he was haunted by this tragedy and wondered how he would react to the news if it happened to his child. “Return” deals with the issue of forgiveness and coming to terms with grief and personal loss and what happens to those who can’t forgive.

The film was shot on location in and around Huntington County, including the main street in Warren that contains one of the very few working phone booths in the state. Scenes also were shot in and around the city of Huntington including Good Shepherd Church, Sunken Gardens and St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church.
