Huntington University offers worship studies minor FOR RELEASE April 19, 2007 HUNTINGTON, IN—Huntington University’s Department of Ministry and Missions now offers a minor in worship studies, approved at a faculty meeting Wednesday. “The worship studies minor is designed for students interested in forming a theological and philosophical foundation for Christian worship,” said Dr. Bob Myers, assistant professor of worship leadership. “The background and perspective gained through a worship studies minor would be valuable as a secondary focus for the ministry student or for the student who wishes to serve as a lay leader in the church.” Unlike the worship leadership major, the worship studies minor does not have any focus on performance skills. Myers suggested that minor could be a complement to any of the ministry majors, the Bachelor of Arts in church music, or for the student who is preparing for pastoral ministry with a Bible and religion major. The 24-credit worship studies minor includes a four-course worship studies core, a four-course ministry studies core and one Bible and religion course. Huntington University is a comprehensive Christian college of the liberal arts offering graduate and undergraduate programs in more than 70 academic concentrations. U.S.News & World Report ranks Huntington among the best colleges in the Midwest. Founded in 1897 by the Church of the United Brethren in Christ, Huntington University is located on a contemporary, lakeside campus in northeast Indiana. The University is a member of the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities (CCCU). # # #
