Ward, Grow named Forester Athletes of Week FOR RELEASE March 31, 2008 HUNTINGTON, IN—The Huntington University Athletic Department announced its Athletes of the Week for the week of March 24-30. Women’s softball junior Lauren Ward and men’s baseball senior Korey Grow earned the honor for their outstanding efforts during the week. Lauren Ward, an accounting major from Butler, Ind. (Eastside High School), helped lead the Foresters to three wins from the mound during the week. She allowed just one earned run in 22.2 innings of work for a .31 ERA and she struck out 33. In the Foresters’ first game against the University of St. Francis, Ward racked up 15 strikeouts including 11 in a row in Huntington’s 8-0 victory. The Foresters (4-6-1, 2-0) return to action on April 1 when they host Siena Heights University at 4 p.m. Korey Grow, an elementary education major from Sullivan, Ind. (Sullivan High School), helped lead Huntington to a 6-0 week to open Mid-Central Conference play. Grow hit .375 (6-16) for the week, scored four runs and a batted in four. He also picked up a win and two saves on the mound for the Foresters. Grow threw four scoreless innings in relief and allowed just two hits while striking out four.
