Spitnale, Janson named Forester Athletes of Week FOR RELEASE October 15, 2007 HUNTINGTON, IN—The Huntington University Athletic Department announced its Athletes of the Week for the week of Oct. 8-14. Women’s soccer freshman Stephanie Spitanle and men’s soccer sophomore Abe Janson earned the honors for their outstanding efforts during the week’s competitions. Stephanie Spitnale, a freshman from Cloverdale, Ohio (Continental High School), had a stellar week for the Forester soccer team. She tallied two goals and four assists in Huntington’s two games including a two goal and three assists in the Foresters’ 6-1 win over Taylor University. The Foresters (8-8) host Bethel College on Oct. 17 at 3 p.m. in their final regular season match. Abe Janson, a recreation management major from Parma, Mich. (Western High School), helped lead the Foresters to a 2-0 week with three goals and an assist. Against Taylor University Fort Wayne, Janson scored once and assisted on another in Huntington’s 10-0 blow-out, and he scored back-to-back goals against Moody Bible Institute to lead the Foresters to a 3-0 victory. Huntington (8-7) returns to action on Oct. 16 at 3:30 p.m. in a home contest against Goshen College.
