Huntington to present concerto winners concert FOR RELEASE April 9, 2008
Huntington, Ind.—Four Huntington University students and two other area students will perform in Huntington University’s Eighth Annual Concerto Winners Concert set for 7:30 p.m. on April 17 in the Zurcher Auditorium of the Merillat Centre for the Arts. The concert features the winners of the Huntington University Concerto Competition, held in November 2007. Performers from the university are senior sociology major Stephanie Baehrens of Oak Harbor, Ohio, soprano; junior worship leadership major and music minor Bethany Goodwin of Fort Wayne, Ind., soprano; senior church music major Kara Judy of Princeton, Ind., mezzo-soprano; senior youth ministry major and music minor James Jonathan Reid of Grand Ledge, Mich., piano.
Area student performers will include17-year-old Aaron Mossburg from Uniondale, Ind., on the viola and 15-year-old Jason Simon from Fort Wayne, Ind., on the piano. Both are homeschooled. Each will perform with the Huntington University Chamber Orchestra directed by Dr. Robert Lynn, director of instrumental studies. The Huntington University Chamber Trio, comprised of Elizabeth Smith, violin; Marlene Schleiffer, oboe; and Steven Bergdall, keyboard, will play in the lobby preceding the concert at 7 p.m. Tickets are $5 for general admission and $3 for students, seniors and Huntington University faculty and staff.
