Huntington
inducts 10 members into Lambda Pi Eta

HUNTINGTON, IN—Huntington
University inducted 10 new members into its Lambda Pi Eta chapter at a
ceremony held today in Habecker Dining Commons. LPH is
the official communication studies honor society
of the National Communication Association.
“These students represent
both academic excellence and collegiality since they must meet a high grade
point average and be voted in by their peers,” said Dr. Kevin Miller,
advisor for LPH and associate professor of
communication.
LPH students also are
involved in service projects in the community each semester. For the fall
semester of 2007, they are restoring a historic marker for the City of
Huntington.

of the Association of College Honor Societies, LPH has more than 400 active
chapters at four-year colleges and universities worldwide.

LPH was
founded in 1985 at the University of Arkansas. LPH became a part of the
National Communication Association in 1988, and the official honor society
of the NCA in July 1995.
LPH
represents what Aristotle described in his book, “Rhetoric,” as the three
ingredients of persuasion: Logos (Lambda) meaning logic, Pathos (Pi)
relating to emotion, and Ethos (Eta) defined as character credibility and
ethics.
Huntington University is a comprehensive
Christian college of the liberal arts offering graduate and undergraduate
programs in more than 70 academic concentrations.
