Huntington native to discuss involvement with institute

Stephen Nix

HUNTINGTON, IN—Stephen Nix will continue Huntington University’s Forester Lecture Series at 7 p.m. on Nov. 5 in the Zurcher Auditorium of the Merillat Centre for the Arts. He will discuss his involvement with the International Republican Institute.

Nix is the regional program director for Eurasia at the International Republican Institute in Washington, D.C. He formerly served as senior democracy specialist at the U.S. Agency for International Development, and in his current capacity, oversees programs in Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic, Moldavia, Russia, Ukraine and Uzbekistan aimed toward the development of post-Soviet constitutions and legal systems.

Nix is a specialist in political party development, and judicial and legal reform in the former Soviet Union.

Born and raised in Huntington, Ind., Nix attended St. Peter and Paul Grade School and graduated from Huntington Catholic School.

Nix received his doctorate from the Georgetown University Law Center in 1989. He worked in the litigation section of the law firm of Baker & Hostetler in Washington, D.C., from 1989 to 1994, where he specialized in election law and international law.

Prior to entering the practice of law, Nix served as Midwest field director for the National Republican Congressional Committee and was the campaign manager for the Republican candidate in Indiana’s Second Congressional District.
