Unger, Goodwin to perform junior/senior recital

HUNTINGTON, IN—The Huntington University Music Department will present soprano Bethany Goodwin and mezzo-soprano Emily Unger in a combined vocal recital at 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 26. The recital will be held in Longaker Recital Hall of the Merillat Centre for the Arts at Huntington University. 

Emily Unger is a senior at Huntington University pursuing a bachelor’s degree in choral education. In high school, she was involved in various musical theatre productions including “The Sound of Music,” “Wizard of Oz,” “Les Miserables” and “Oklahoma.” Unger, a native of Hammond, Ind., was a first soprano in several Illiana Christian High School choirs. She also was involved in concert choir, a cappella choir, women’s chorale and freshman ensemble. Unger participated in private voice lessons during her junior and senior years of high school.

Bethany Goodwin

While at Huntington University, Unger was involved with the Concert Choir and Preeminence. As a sophomore at HU, Unger participated in the Longaker Honors Recital. During her summers, she was involved as the worship intern at her home church in Lansing, Ill., and is currently serving on the praise team at her local church in Huntington. She is currently studying voice from Professor Joni Killian at Huntington University.

Bethany Goodwin, a junior at Huntington University, is a 2005 graduate of R. Nelson Snider High School, where she participated in ISSMA competitions receiving I (one) ratings for solo entries as well as group entries. She participated in madrigal dinner feast concerts, was involved with her jazz choir, worked with Steve Zegree at the Jazz Summit in Kalamazoo, worked with Darmon Meader in New York City, and worked with John Rutter in a national gathering of choirs at Carnegie Hall in January of 2004. She is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Music in choral music education at Huntington University. Goodwin has been involved in Women’s Chorale, Longaker Honors Recital, Concert Choir, The Seventh Annual Concerto Concert, and she is employed as a choral assistant for the Concert Choir. Since fall 2006, she also has been involved in the university musical worship team, Joyful Noise. She has studied voice since 2002 and is currently studying voice with Professor Joni Killian.

The recital is open to the public, and admission is free.
