Huntington names Villwock, Vivas its Athletes of Week FOR RELEASE September 22, 2008 Huntington, Ind.—The Huntington University Athletic Department announced its Athletes of the Week for the week of Sept. 15-21. Women’s volleyball senior Natalie Villwock and men’s tennis senior Gonzalo Vivas earned the honors for their outstanding efforts during the week’s competitions. Natalie Villwock, a senior from Fort Wayne, Ind. (Windsor HS, Windsor, Colorado), helped lead the Foresters to the Manchester College Volleyball Tournament title with a 4-0 record. She recorded 35 kills, eight blocks, 24 digs and five aces in the four matches and was named the Tournament MVP. Huntington (10-6) returns to action on Sept. 27 when they host the Huntington University Quad Tournament beginning at 11 a.m. Gonzalo Vivas, a business management major from Lima, Peru, had a strong performance on the tennis court during the week. He was a double winner in the men’s 7-2 conference victory over Grace College.Vivas won 6-2, 6-3 at #1 singles, and then he and his brother Martin won 8-6 at #1 doubles. Vivas also advanced to the quarterfinals of the ITA Regional tournament at Cedarville University with two singles wins, 6-3 6-2 and 6-3, 6-1. The Foresters (2-5) next host Manchester College on Sept. 25 at 4 p.m. Huntington University is a comprehensive Christian college of the liberal arts offering graduate and undergraduate programs in more than 70 academic concentrations.
