Huntington University to present 'The Music Man' FOR RELEASE October 27, 2008 Huntington, Ind.—The Huntington University Theatre Company will present “The Music Man” at 7:30 p.m. on Nov. 6-7 and at 2 and 7:30 p.m. on Nov. 8 in the Zurcher Auditorium of the Merillat Centre for the Arts. Confidence man Harold Hill arrives at staid River City intending to cheat the community with his standard scam of offering to equip and train a boys’ marching band, then skips town with the money since he has no music skill. However, his plans go awry when he falls for the town librarian and inadvertently enriches the town with a love of music.
Tickets are $12 for general admission, $10 for students and seniors, $6 for children 13 and younger, $5 for Huntington University students, and $9 for Huntington University faculty and staff. The production is directed by Jay Duffer, visiting professor theatre, with choreography by Melissa Duffer, adjunct faculty, and musical direction by Drew Wutke, adjunct faculty. “The Music” Man was first produced Dec. 19, 1957, at the Majestic Theatre in Manhattan. The original Broadway production was directed by Morton DaCosta and choreographed by Onna White.
