Alpha Chi
honor society inducts 20 members

Huntington, Ind.—Huntington
University inducted 20 new members into the Indiana
Beta Chapter of Alpha
Chi in a convocation held Oct. 2 in the Merillat Centre for the Arts.
Students were recognized for their superior academics and exceptional
character.
“Membership in Alpha Chi is
the highest academic honor at Huntington University and represents both a
recognition of scholastic achievement and a commitment to promoting academic
excellence on and off-campus,” said Dr. Paul E. Michelson, distinguished
professor of history and chapter sponsor for the Indiana Beta Chapter of
Alpha Chi.
The following students at
Huntington University received induction into Alpha Chi in 2009:

Jordan Binkerd
is a
history education
major from Andrews, Ind. He is the son of Kevin and Lori Binkerd and
plans to pursue a career as a high school history teacher.

Philip Black
is a theatre performance
major from West Lafayette, Ind. He is the son of Patrick and Cathy Black
and plans to pursue a career as a professional actor in stage, screen
and voiceover work.

Jimi Bonogofsky
is a digital media
arts with a focus on animation from Montgomery Creek, Calif.
She is the daughter of Jay and Joni Bonogofsky and plans to pursue a
career as a hand-drawn or stop motion animator.

Travis Frantz
is an applied exercise
science major from Fremont, Ind. He is the son of Neal and
Connie Frantz and plans to pursue a career as an orthopedic surgeon.

Jared Grandlienard
is a
mathematics major
from Monroe, Ind. He is the son of Paul and Mary Grandlienard and plans
to receive his master’s degree and Ph.D. and to pursue a career as a
college professor.

Robert Hahn
is a
small business and
business management double major from Whitehouse, Ohio. He is
the son of Dennis and Carl Hahn and plans to pursue a career as an owner
of a business or businesses.

Katrina Helmer
is a broadcasting
major from Noblesville, Ind. She is the daughter of Don and Sheryl
Helmer and plans to pursue a career as a local or international reporter
in a top-100 market, launch a business that deals with social justice,
or by create documentaries around the world.

Melissa Hicks
is an elementary
education major from Fishers, Ind. She is the daughter of
Scott and Lisa Hicks.

Amanda Kent
is a public relations
major from Williams, Ind. She is the daughter of Mark and Marilyn Kent
and plans to pursue a career in business event-planning or public
relations for a non-profit organization.

Ross Kilgore
is an educational
ministries major from New Castle, Ind. He plans to pursue a
career in a basic ministry position after graduation and then earn a
master’s degree in counseling psychology.

Emily Knapp
is a graphic design
major from Pittsboro, Ind. She is the daughter of Jim and Amy Knapp and
plans to pursue a career as the artist for a non-profit or philanthropic
organization and also to design merchandise for bands.

Andrew Martin
is a computer science
and digital media arts with an animation focus double major from Eaton,
Ohio. He is the son of Clif and Jana Martin and plans open his own
production studio for animated films.

Julie McCoy
is an elementary
education and intermediate language arts double major from
Fort Wayne, Ind. She is the daughter of Karen McCoy and plans to pursue
a career at an elementary school teaching in the inner-city.

Peter Molinero
is a digital media
arts major with a focus on animation from Potsdam, N.Y. He is
the son of Anthony and Rhonda Molinero.

Vince Moore
is a history
major from Noblesville, Ind. He is the son of Dennis and Faith Moore and
plans to attend law school after graduation.

W. Heath Pearson
is a communication studies
major from Huntington, Ind. He is the son of Brian and Sharalyn Pearson
and plans to pursue a career as a pastor and a professor.

Nicolle Reid
is an elementary
education (non-licensing) major from Mansfield, Ohio. She is
the daughter of Bryan and Michelle Sackman and plans to pursue a career
teaching English abroad.

Cassandra Screeton
is an
economics and finance
major from Rochester, Ind. She is the daughter of Terry and Linda
Screeton and plans to pursue a career in the finance department of a
corporation or banking institution.

Ashley Upchurch
is a
psychology
major from New Castle, Ind. She is daughter of Curt and Karen Upchurch
and plans to pursue a career as a school counselor after acquiring her
master’s degree.

Kelci VanDam
is an elementary
education major from Muncie, Ind. She is the daughter of Kurt
and Darcy VanDam and Dinah and Scott Breedlove. She plans to pursue a
career as an elementary school teacher.
