Duke theology professor to discuss Obama, King

Huntington, Ind.—Huntington University’s Forester Lecture Series will feature Dr. J. Kameron Carter at 7 p.m. on Oct. 13 in the Zurcher Auditorium of the Merillat Centre for the Arts. This lecture is part of the Adams Tribute Lecture Series.

Carter, associate professor of theology at Duke Divinity School, will discuss “Obama and the Legacy of Martin Luther King Jr.” His presentation will address the King legacy in American religion and politics and will offer a meditation on the future of religion in the United States.

J. Kameron Carter received degrees from Temple University, Dallas Theological Seminary and the University of Virginia. He is the author of a forthcoming book from Oxford University Press titled “Race: A Theological Account.” He is a widely respected observer of the African-American experience in the United States and scholar of the historic black church in America.

Each semester, Huntington University presents the Forester Lecture Series. The lectures are designed to bring interesting persons and topics to the attention of students and the regional community. The lectures are open to the public free of charge.
