Huntington University hosts English conference FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Huntington, Ind.—The Huntington University English department hosted the annual Indiana College English Association conference on October 23, 2009. English faculty members and graduate students from throughout the state attended the one-day event. Matt Mullins, assistant professor of creative writing at Ball State University, presented the keynote address, speaking on “What the Image Says: Visualizing Meaning across Genres.” Other faculty members and graduate students presented the results of their own research in different sessions throughout the day. Members of the Huntington University English Department who presented were: Dr. Del Doughty, “Steel-Cut Mystic Flarf: A Few Cut-up Poems and Some Observations.” Dr. Jack Heller, “Deconstructing Hypocrisy with Shakespeare behind Bars.” Dr. Todd Martin, “Egoism, Sex, and Failed Intimacy in Sherwood Andersons’ ‘The Teacher.’” Dr. Linda Urschel, conference coordinator was elected to serve as president of ICEA for 2010-11. Huntington University is a comprehensive Christian college of the liberal arts offering graduate and undergraduate programs in more than 70 academic concentrations.
