Christia Campbell earns national honors for videos
Local student wins two of top five awards
HUNTINGTON, IN FEBRUARY 3, 1997 --- Huntington College student Christia Campbell won
second and fourth place in the National Religious Broadcasters Student Achievement Video
competition. The awards were presented during the NRB's annual convention and exposition
in Anaheim, California January 25-28.
Miss Campbell is a senior at Huntington College pursuing a degree in broadcast communications. She is the daughter of Brian Campbell of Warsaw and Carol Campbell of Hobart.
"This is the first year we have had one of our students enter the competition, which includes the entire Coalition for Christian Colleges and Universities," explained her professor, Lance Clark. "There were only five awards given out of hundreds of entries."
Miss Campbell's video entry, "The Corner" won fourth place. The video promotes an annual youth convention sponsored by the Church of the United Brethren in Christ.
Second place went to Miss Campbell's music video, "John 3:16." The video uses black and white footage and dramatic special effects to underscore the timeless truth of the Christian gospel within the contemporary marketplace of ideas. The title refers to a Biblical passage, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."
Broadcasting is one of many outstanding academic programs available from Huntington College.
