The Huntington College Baseball team will host the Holiday Baseball Camp 2001 from December 27-29, at the Merillat Physical Education and Recreation Center. Huntington College head baseball coach Mike Frame will lead three sessions of the camp with the help of assistant coaches Brian Abbott, Dave Kennedy, Russ Lawson, Jeff LeBeau and Nate Perry, as well as current Huntington College baseball players.

Huntington College Associate Professor of Mathematics, Dr. Patrick Eggleton, has an article that is featured in the October 2001 issue of the Mathematics Teacher. The article regards the instructional activity, “Triangles a la Fettuccini: A Hands-on Approach to Triangle-Congruence Theorems.” Included are pictures taken by Huntington College student Summer Zimmer and quotes from the Huntington North High School students. The cover picture of the issue, taken by Zimmer, was of the Huntington North students working on the exercise.

The semiannual Huntington College High School Mathematics Competition took place Wednesday, October 24 in the Habecker Dining Commons at Huntington College. Nine area high school teams met to compete for individual and team awards for their demonstration of mathematical ability.

The Robert E. Wilson Gallery of the Merillat Centre for the Arts at Huntington College hosts IGNITE, a North American exhibition of works by emerging artists contending for or with Christian faith. The exhibition will be displayed from November 1 –20, 2001. Admission is free and the gallery is open to the public weekdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and before all Merillat Centre performances.

Huntington, Ind.—In Homecoming ceremonies today, Huntington College Alumni Director Jim Hoffman announced that Francis Jones of Huntington, Indiana, has been named the Alumnus of the Year, and that Fern Mattson of Sun City, Arizona, has been selected to receive the college’s Distinguished Alumni Citation.

The Indiana Beta Chapter of Alpha Chi National College Honor Scholarship Society will induct 18 new members into the organization on Friday, October 5, at 11 a.m. A special convocation chapel will be held at the Merillat Centre of the Arts and kicks off the 2001 Huntington College Homecoming.

DeWitt Baker Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 6, at 10:15 a.m. The third annual Alumni Run will take place prior to the invitational and will be the inaugural race on the new cross country course.
