Evans, Jordan to address Class of 2005 at 107th Commencement exercises

Dr. Bruce Evans, associate professor of biology, along with students Emily
Padilla, Andrew Jackenheimer and Mike McKinney attended the Argonne
Symposium for Undergraduates in Science, Engineering and Mathematics at
Argonne National Labs in Illinois on November 5. McKinney presented the
latest data on Evans' ongoing research in the field of cognitive
neuroscience. His presentation, "Gender Bias in Assessing Body Image
Plasticity," built on the work of graduates Becky Harness, Kelli Sorg
and Anna Gensic. Jackenheimer was co-author on the abstract.

Beta Chapter of Alpha Chi inducts 18 scholars

Drs. Bruce Evans and
Ruth Nalliah, along with pre-medical students Wendy Campbell and Alicia
Hoffmann, attended the Region V Annual Medical Education Conference
sponsored by the Student National Medical Association at the Indiana
University School of Medicine on Oct.16, 2004. Students and faculty
attended seminars on topics including minorities in research, the
business of medicine, suturing, and surviving the wards in medical
school.

Bordeaux, Bruce Evans, Francis Jones, and Ruth Nalliah attended a
seminar at Taylor University on October 18, entitled “Evolving Creation
Perspectives: Good Science? …. Good Theology?” by Dr. Howard VanTill,
Professor Emeritus of Calvin College.

On October 25, Drs.
Bill Bordeaux and Bruce Evans, along with students Jason Clore, Victoria
Hall, Alicia Hoffmann, Christian (Thaddeus) Hubley, and Rosanne Weida
attended a seminar at Taylor University by Dr. William Dembski entitled
“Information Theory and Digital Life: Their Impact on the Intelligent
Design Perspective of Origins."

Dr. Bruce Evans,
associate professor of biology, will serve on a panel with Ohio state
senator Jim Jordan at Shawnee Alliance Church in Lima, Ohio on September
26. The church will host a live satellite broadcast featuring Lee
Strobel as scientific evidence for intelligence behind the design of the
universe will be presented. This event is being held as an informative
meeting after the Ohio State Board of Education adopted new guidelines
in the teaching of "origins science."
