Dear Friends; As we strive to honor God in scholarship and service, we will create a climate conducive to using all of our resources to the fullest. One facet of this stewardship may be demonstrated by the effective use of technology in educational processes. We will integrate the use of technology across academic and functional lines using technology to serve the broader mission of the college. Objective: Complete the installation of the campus infrastructure related to the use of existing and anticipated technology
Action Steps:
- Proceed with the installation of a conduit and fiber backbone to all existing buildings with appropriate consideration deration given to enabling access to proposed new buildings as outlined in the master facilities plan. (Target dates: 1996-1998)
- Establish at least five multimedia classrooms. (Target dates: 1997-2000)
- Evaluate system security. (Target dates: 1996-1997)
Objective: Develop and implement a comprehensive plan for the use and management of technology
Action Steps:
- Identify and review existing technology usage plans at similar institutions. (Target dates: 1996-2000)
- Assess current technology usage and availability. (Target dates: 1996-1998)
- Establish a team to develop a comprehensive plan for technology usage and management. (Target dates: 1996-2000)
- Temporarily employ an external consultant to assist in the development of the comprehensive plan for technology usage and management. (Target dates: 1996-2000)
- Identify a pilot academic program and test the application of emerging technologies as suggested by the comprehensive plan. (Target dates: 1997-2000)
Objective: Focus on the development of faculty and staff to enhance the use of existing and new technologies
Action Steps:
- Budget for frequent faculty and staff attendance at regional and national conferences focusing on the application of technology to the learning process. (Target dates: 1996-2000)
- Begin a series of local workshops providing faculty with an opportunity to experience the capabilities of technology applied to the learning process. (Target dates: 1997-2000)
- Allocate space and establish a faculty technology lab facility. (Target dates: 1999-2000)
