Class Attendance Reminder:
Students are expected to be punctual and regular in
class attendance and to accept responsibility for
all assigned work. Any student who has been absent
for as many as one-third of the total class sessions
for a course will have failed and will be suspended
from the course. Within this framework, each
instructor may set his/her own class attendance
policy, and will inform students of this policy at
the beginning of the term. Class sessions missed
because of illness or late registration will be
counted as absences. There are no "excused" absences
(illness, funerals, athletic contests, and other
necessary absences are included in the total number
of absences counted). In case of extenuating
circumstances, a suspended student may petition the
Academic Concerns Committee to be readmitted to the
class. At the discretion of the faculty member,
missed work may be “made up.”

SS202 Conversations About Race
Should we
strive to be colorblind when it comes to
skin color? What should I do with
stereotypes that are in my head—do they mean
I’m racist? Why does it seem certain
minority groups can’t “get it together”?
Should I say something when my grandpa puts
down other races? Are Jews white? Was Jesus
white? Did God create the races? This course
is designed to provide readings,
discussions, and personal experiences to
help you explore the topic of race, your own
racial identity, and what race means for
relationships on and off campus. Offered
spring 2010 semester; 2 credit hours; TR
4:00-4:50; open to any major; for more
information, contact
Kevin Miller
or
Jesse Brown.

the Indianapolis Half-Marathon?
Are you interested in running the
Indy Mini Marathon (13.1 miles) on Saturday, May 8, 2010?
Let’s start a training club to get
ready. The race is 200 days away so there is plenty of
time if you’ve never run, are an intermediate runner or think that
you can win it all. The Indy Mini is the largest half-marathon in
the U.S. with over 35,000 participants. If you’re interested, come
to Norm’s Place on Wednesday, October
28 at 4:00 pm to talk about it. 13.1 miles too far?
You’d be surprised at what you can accomplish. See
Jesse Brown if you have questions. |
