Attention Huntington University graphic arts students!

Huntington’s First Church of the Nazarene is starting a new ministry for twenty-something's on Saturday nights beginning in April.  The goal of the ministry is to reach people your age – people who may not feel comfortable in the “traditional” church setting, but who are still very interested in learning more about Christ.  We need your help to come up with a logo to represent this new, exciting ministry!  The title of the new ministry is Intersection.  The “tag line” for the ministry is where life meets faith.  We envision some sort of street signs intersecting with “life” and “faith,” but we are definitely NOT set on that as an idea.  We’d love for you to tap into your creative juices to come up with the perfect logo.  We would like the word “Intersection” to be prominent with the tag line secondary.  A $50 award will be given to the person whose design our group chooses!  The deadline to submit logos is February 29, 2008.  Please contact Amy Mattox at ext. 4013 or by emailing amattox@huntington.edu if you have any questions or need clarification about the contest.  Also, please submit your logo ideas to Amy’s email address in PDF format.  Thanks and good luck!

Hate Crime Prevention Legislation

Several people who attended the Martin Luther King, Jr. Convocation on Monday have asked about Reverend Michael Latham comments regarding the petition supporting hate crime legislation.  Below is a combination of a letter from the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) and two articles (January 8 Journal Gazette and January 5 News Sentinel) summarizing a sparsely-attended meeting with Indiana State Representative Win Moses (D- Fort Wayne) about hate crimes.  For further information click here.
