Academics

Class Attendance Reminder:

Students are expected to be punctual and regular in class attendance and to accept responsibility for all assigned work. Any student who has been absent for as many as one-third of the total class sessions for a course will have failed and will be suspended from the course. Within this framework, each instructor may set his/her own class attendance policy, and will inform students of this policy at the beginning of the term. Class sessions missed because of illness or late registration will be counted as absences. There are no "excused" absences (illness, funerals, athletic contests, and other necessary absences are included in the total number of absences counted). In case of extenuating circumstances, a suspended student may petition the Academic Concerns Committee to be readmitted to the class. At the discretion of the faculty member, missed work may be “made up.”

Wednesday, November 25 – CHANGE  IN CLASS SCHEDULE

Classes that normally meet at:

     1:00 PM - meet at 11:00 AM

     2:00 PM  - meet at 12:00 noon

     4:00 PM  - meet at 2:00 PM

(No 4:00 or evening classes before Thanksgiving Recess)

Classes will resume at 8:00 AM on Monday, November 30.

Very few classes meet at 12:00 or during the noon hour on Wednesday, November 25.   Professors with classes that meet at that time will need to make other arrangements on that day.

Travel plans are NOT a basis for petitioning for a schedule change.  Faculty are under no obligation to honor requests from students to accommodate travel plans.

Experiencing the Kingdom of God.

We are providing opportunities to visit Fort Wayne churches from various cultural backgrounds.  If interested, get a group of friends and visit one of the churches below.  We have called each church and they are interested in welcoming our students to their Sunday morning worship times.  If you attend one of these churches on November 15, please bring back a bulletin or announcements from the church and join us for dinner in the DC on November 16 at 5:30. We would love to gather and hear about your experience. To alleviate the cost of gas, drivers of carpooling vehicles will receive a $10 gas card when you join us for dinner. Please, in an effort to conserve resources, carpool with others. Thanks.

November is

National Novel Writer’s Month

For those of you who write,

For those of you who wish you wrote,

For those of you who pretend to write

For those of you who will write…someday

For those of you who want to casually drop reference

to “the novel I’m working on” at a party

There is a  month for you

And that month is NANOWRIMO

SAB is sponsoring students to write through the month of November with the goal of creating a work of 50,000 words.
At which point you will technically be considered “a novelist”

Three students accomplished this feat last year, and we are looking for a bigger turn out this year

Our first meeting will be at Norm’s Place on Monday Nov 2nd

Anyone wishing to participate should E-mail sconn@huntington.edu before our first meeting

For more information please visit http://www.nanowrimo.org/
