Computer Recommendations

With the availability of three general computer labs, you are not required to own a computer. However, many students bring their own computers to campus. Using wireless network connectivity, you can connect to the college network and the Internet from residence halls, Loew-Brenn, Science Hall, Library, Dining Commons, and HUB.  The college does not offer hardwired Ethernet connections for students.

The following links list minimum system configuration for bringing an existing computer and buying a new computer.

New Computers – Minimum Recommendations

Should I buy a Desktop or Laptop?
Even though a laptop is a little bit more expensive, we believe your college experience would be much enhanced with a laptop due to added mobility and convenience.

What do I need to be able to use the HU wireless network?

What software should I have on my computer?

Internet Access
Access to the Internet is provided primarily for academic purposes and email.  Recreational use is limited with respect to bandwidth and downloading. Please refer to the “Welcome to Campus Computing” manual on the Internet Use Policy.

Do I need a printer?

What should I do if my computer will not work?
