ΑΨΩ - Alpha Psi Omega

the national theatre honor society

Who we are:

Alpha Psi Omega is the National Theatre Honor Society at Huntington University and exists to support the Department of Theatre Arts and HUTheatre.  Chartered in 1969, APO was very active on campus through the 1980's, producing full length plays each year.  Re-started in 2002, APO has taken on the role of providing HU students with creative theatre performance opportunities outside of the normal HUTheatre production season.

 

APO productions include:
FRESH FACES - an evening of scene work introducing incoming freshman theatre majors to the HU stage.

GUERILLA THEATRE - a monthly evening of random and experimental theatre (started fall 2002)

FORUM THEATRE - The Forum Theatre Project exists to present the texts of plays to the HU community, and create an opportunity for discussion following the presentation.  These reader’s theatre productions are meant to provide a starting point for campus-wide engagement with important issues.  The inaugural production was an evening at the HU President's home with faculty and other VIPs featuring   Barbara Lebow's new play, Left Hand Singing.

Meetings: 

All meetings take place on alternate Monday's at lunch (11:45) in the Forester room of the Dining Commons.

 

Welcome New Members

Danielle Villafana is a senior Theatre Performance and English double Major.

Sharon Voss is a sophomore Psychology Major and Theatre and Music Minor.

Laura Brautigam is a sophomore  Theatre Performance Major with a Music Minor.

 

Qualifications:

    1. 3.2 theatre GPA

    2. 3.0 overall GPA

PLEDGE POINT SYSTEM
A total of 50 points are necessary to pledge, and 75 points are necessary for one to be considered eligible to be pledged to this cast of Alpha Psi Omega.  Of these points, 25 must be in production, 25 in acting, and the remaining 25 from any division in the following schedule: 

ACTING
Full length play
Major role – 15 – 25 points
Minor role - 10 - 15 points

One act play
Major role – 10 - 15 points
Minor role -  1 - 10 points

DIRECTING
Student Director
Full length play - 25 points
One Act play - 10 – 15 points

Assistant Director
Full length play - 10 - 15 points
One Act play - 7 - 15 points

 PRODUCTION STAFF
Designer - 1 – 15 points
Stage Manager - 10 – 15 points
1st Assistant Stage Manager - 5 – 10 points
Business Manager - 10 – 15 points
SPECIAL
Playwright or producer of a full length or one act play - 15 – 30 points		 RADIO or TV DRAMA
Writing radio or TV play - 5 – 15 points
Acting in radio or TV play - 1 – 5 points

GENERAL
Typing, ushering, house managing publicity, programs, general stage work (carpenter, crew, board ops, dressers, etc) 1 – 10 points
