Jay Duffer
Assistant Professor of Theatre Arts

Jay Duffer currently serves as Chair of the Theatre Department and teaches the acting curriculum. Prior to joining the faculty at HU, Duffer spent many years as a professional actor, director and playwright living and working in New York City. He has performed in venues ranging from Off-Broadway to regional houses across the country as well as working in industrials and productions overseas.

Assistant Professor of Theatre

Jonathan D. Hicks is a theatrical designer and teaches the design curriculum. He holds a Master of Fine Arts degree in Lighting Design from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Theater from Westmont College in Santa Barbara, California.

Adjunct Instructor and Resident Choreographer

Melissa Duffer is a cum laude graduate of Baylor University with a degree in music education where she was named Outstanding Senior Woman in the School of Music. Following graduation, Melissa moved to New York City and completed training in musical theatre at the American Musical and Dramatic Academy.

Dr. Leta Horan
Guest Musical Director for “Once Upon a Mattress”

Dr. Leta Horan was a member of the Baylor University School of Music faculty for more than three decades. She taught studio and class piano, musical theatre workshop, and was the director/pianist for Baylor ShowTime! a musical theatre ensemble that served the university in a recruiting and public relations capacity.

Scott recently directed Neil Simon’s Biloxi Blues at the Forestburgh Playhouse. Currently, he is the Assistant Director for Jim Henry’s new play, 7th Monarch, which will have its New York premiere Off Broadway in June 2012.
