Mission Statements

The Department of Theatre Arts seeks to develop effective and creative communicators in order to challenge others to thoughtful examination of ideas, culture, and values.  Students majoring in theatre arts will develop skills and thinking that reflect the historical foundations of the discipline as well as recent advances.  Through both traditional classroom instruction and performance and production experience, students will enhance their skills of observation, analysis, development, and performance in order to better prepare them for their careers and lives.

Huntington University Theatre Company is a co-curricular educational program that supports the college mission to make itself not a refuge from the contemporary world, but an arena for encounter with that world and creative response to it.  HU Theatre Company is committed to providing quality training and opportunities for the disciplined theatre artist in a nurturing environment that models Christian values.  HU Theatre Company seeks to provide a creative environment in which all students may enlarge their artistic potential within a community of believer artists.

HU Theatre Company has PRIDE in its presentations and seeks to:

Present a broad range of dramatic forms produced with a commitment to excellence which reflect diverse world views and provoke thoughtful response.

Reveal facets of our humanity through creative collaboration that draws from the heritage of the traditional liberal arts.

Integrate the Christian faith with our creative process by enjoying the exercise of our gifts and by exploring the human experience with honesty, integrity, and a sense of God’s grace.

Develop our audience members’ artistic sensitivity, their capacity for thoughtful consideration of significant questions, and their understanding of human values.

Explore the social values of the larger community, remaining sensitive to our responsibility for message, aesthetic form, and the pursuit of truth.
