Abstract: Orpha Miller was a classmate at Central College (now Huntington University) of Minnie Mull and Lucy Wilberforce who were both associated with United Brethren mission work in Sierra Leone. The papers contain letters from these both Minnie Mull and Lucy Wilberforce.

Biographical Note

Orpha Miller was born in Ohio, February 27, 1884 the daughter of John F. and Sager Miller. She attended Central College (now Huntington University), Huntington, Indiana from 1902 to 1906. During her time at Huntington she became acquainted with fellow students Minnie Mull and Lucy Wilberforce. Minnie Mull became a missionary in Sierra Leone and Lucy Wilberforce was the daughter of Sierra Leone native D. F. Wilberforce. Orpha married her cousin, Herbert Miller, from Bethel, Ohio who was a 1917 Huntington graduate. Orpha was physically handicapped all her life. Herbert farmed in Union Township, Huntington County, Indiana. Orpha died in 1967 in Huntington, Indiana.

Scope Note

The collection consists of three letters from Minnie Mull, one letter from Lucy Wilberforce and one letter from Abbie Swales concerning the Mull letters.
