Biographical Note
Minnie M. Mull was born on August 31, 1879, the daughter of Peter and Senaah Jane Mills Mull. Originally from Centerville, Indiana she attended Central College (now Huntington University), Huntington, Indiana from 1897 to 1900. After leaving Central College she worked at an infirmary near her home in Wayne County, Indiana. From there she took a positions as governess and teacher at the Orphan's Home in Richmond, Indiana. When the orphanage closed she accepted a position as assistant matron in an orphanage at Anderson, Indiana. In 1905 she was chosen by the Women's Missionary Association to become matron of the Boys' and Girls' Homes in Danville (Gbangbaia), Sierra Leone.
Charles W. Linker was born in Ohio in 1865 or 1866. He took general preparatory courses at Central College, Huntington, Indiana from 1899 to about1903. In 1905 the Mission Board for the Church of the United Brethren in Christ (Old constitution) appointed him as superintendent of the mission in Sierra Leone. On June 27, 1906 he married Minnie Mull while they were both serving on the African field. Minnie fell ill in August of 1906 and was unable to recover, finally passing away on October 18, 1906. Charles. remained on the mission field until March 1908 when he returned home for a furlough. His second term of service began in December 1909. His major accomplishment during this term was the building of the Rest Home at Bonthe.
Mr. Linker returned home to the United States in October of 1911. On April 23, 1912 he married Ida Overmeyer and settled in Lindsey, Ohio. He died February 3, 1934.

The collection consists of letters from Minnie Mull Linker and Charles W. Linker to Jacob Howe, General Secretary of the Parent Board of Missions for the Church of the United Brethren in Christ (Old constitution).
