The name of Bro. P. C. Parker being presented to conference on an application for restoration to the office of an elder in the church, and his attention being called by T. J. Connor to the former action of the White River Conference, and also to a note found on page 71 of the Discipline of the church; It submitted the following;- The church of the United Brethren In Christ is the one of my choice, & although I have tried to make a home elsewhere yet this & this only is my home & the people with whom I can live and labor in happiness. For the satisfaction of those brethren who feel themselves aggrieved in the unfortunate difficulty which resulted in my separation from the church, I am free to say I am truly Sorry I ever went to the Mexican War and if it was to do over again, I certainly would not go. I also feel that I can and do fully and heartily subscribe to the discipline of the church as it now Stands. Wherein I may have wounded the feelings of my brethren especially of the White River Conference--I desire to be forgiven. It is also agreed that Bro. T. J. Connor make such Page 8 use as the above as he may deem expedient for the satisfaction and good of all concerned. Signed, Patterson C. Parker The above being entirely satisfactory to the conf. and believing it would be to the White River Conf., Bro. Parker was received in his former [standing]. The Bishop appointed the following committees.-- On rules of order, P. C. Parker, and Alex. Bennett. On examination of applicants, J. Kenoyer and M. M. Crow. On Devotional Exercises, A. Bennett, J. M. Chandler, and J. Clifson. Bro. Reuben Price was duly recommended to conference, was received and licensed to preach. Conference proceeded to the examination of the characters of the members. All were examined and passed satisfactorily. Adjourned to meet at the time suggested by the Bishop. Prayer by J. Kenoyer.
Morning Session. Aug. 31st. 8 1/2 O'clock A.M.
Conference resumed session by having read Timothy 1st chap. & prayer by Page 9 P.C. Parker. Proceeded to business, Supt. and chairman presiding--minutes read and approved. Committee on rules of order responded, report received, & rules adopted. What has been done for missions? Bros. Connor & Kenoyer report as follows;--received in Oregon $470.50. What has been done for Sabbath Schools? Bro. J. Kenoyer reports 3 schools attended by 80 scholars, taught by 12 teachers, and $58.00 received to be appropriated to Sabbath School purposes. Conference resolved into committee of the whole on Boundaries--Bro. J. Kenoyer in the chair. The committee rose and adjourned at half past 10. A.M. for public preaching;--prayer by Bro. M. M. Crow.
2 o'clock P.M. Prayer by Bro. Sichtenthaler. Who are the Itinerancy? Bros. T. J. Connor, J. Kenoyer, M. M. Crow, & P. C. Parker. Conference proceeded to elect a presiding elder & T. J.
