Dear Brother:--

Perhaps I do not read all, but our collection for Central College seems to have come to an end, with several figures short of the total amount. Just when I expected that there would be a general rush, and it would close up, a sound of cessation greets our ears, in the shape of a rush to raise a press fund for a Conservator Press. That I was at the College Fund's origin (and not of C. A. Mummart's plan) is true, and also favorable to the last Press plan, is also truer. That I have greatly helped these institutions, with money committed to my care, is also true. But Young America has got ahead of me. Perhaps, I have overlooked the mention of these maters in the Conservator

I am in usual health. There is a mystery gathers about that Paris (Westfield) donation. I do not understand it very well. I was sent out after Mrs. Indiana Whitesell had a Conservator appointed, and was therefore rendered incapable of any negotiation.
