Sophia J. Abby Barnaby

  Sophia J. Abby Barnaby, was born in Eaton county, Michigan, June 1, 1842. She was married to Bishop Horace T. Barnaby Dec. 6, 1864. They lived together over fifty-two years, his death occuring Mar. 1, 1917. One son died in infancy and her oldest son Alvin P. Barnaby preceded her Mar. 5, 1906 at the age of forty. Three sons and one daughter remain to mourn the loss of a loving mother. She was always frail in body but ever faithful in the performance of her duties as a Christian, and the wife of a minister. Always teaching her children the right way and warning them against evil.

A precious one from us is gone.

A voice we loved is stilled.

A place is vacant in our home

Which never can be filled.

Besides the four children Horace T. Barnaby Jr. Milton W. Barnaby, J. Lewis Barnaby and Addie B. Bechtel she leaves nineteen grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

Maggie Agnes Ingle

Maggie Agnes Ingle of Krawltown, York Co., Pa., wife of Fred Ingle, departed this life March 19, 1922. She leaves a husband and four children, and numerous friends to mourn the loss. She was a kind devoted mother. A good neighbor and a friend to all who knew her. She was in failing health for more than a year. She never united with the church, but during her illness professed Christ as her Savior. Funeral services were held at the home, the writer officiating. Interment in the cemetery at Dillsburg, Pa.

James Nathaniel Ferrier

James Nathaniel Ferrier was born in Steuben Co., Ind., Feb. 22, 1871; departed this life, caused by a stroke of apoplexy, March 22, 1922. He married Miss Alma Hart of Edon, Ohio, May 23, 1899. Three children were born to this home: Cecil C, Celia D., and Donald L. Mr. Farrier was converted to the Christian religion while a young man, and united with the United Brethren church, and his name still remains on the class book at Hillsdale society. He leaves to mourn their loss, a wife Mrs. Alma Ferrier, one daughter, Mrs. Walter Mullin, the little son Donald Leroy at home. One granddaughter, aged mother, four brothers and three sisters and many friends and class-mates. Interment was in Lake View cemetery. The funeral was conducted from the United Brethren church, Hillsdale, Mich., by the pastor, C. E. Wolverton..

Carrie E. Parker Young

Carrie E. Parker Young, daughter of Jason and Jane Parker, was born at Jasper, Mich. Jan. 20, 1874 and departed this life April 30, 1922. She was united in marriage Dec. 14, 1892 to Chas S. Young of Ogden and to them was born one daughter, Flossie H., wife of Harold H. Hodges. She was a most loving wife and mother, having the welfare and best interests of her family uppermost in her mind. Her home was her delight and her devotion to it was ideally perfect. She was sympathetic and really enjoyed serving others. Her illness was of long duration, but borne with much patience. There are left to mourn her departure a loving husband, an aged mother, the daughter ,one granddaughter, whom she dearly loved, many relatives and close friends. It may be truly said of her, "She hath done what she could." The funeral was held from the home. Burial in Zion cemetery.

Martha Ellen Kelly

Martha Ellen Kelly was born in Koseosco County, Ind., Feb. 28, 1850. Departed this life at her home near Syracuse in Turkey Creek Township, April the 28, 1922. She was married to Dennis P. Kelley, Oct, 9, 1871, to them were born thirteen children. The father and two daughters Daisy and Millie preceded her in death. There are left to mourn her loss seven sons, four daughters and two sisters. Sister Kelly was converted about the year 1885 and was a faithful attendant at divine services until age and failing health hindered. The last day of her life was spent at a W. M. A. meeting where she took an active part in the work of the day. Shortly after returning to her own home she was taken with paralysis and about nine o'clock the next morning she passed peacefully away. Funeral services was held at the zion church near Syracuse, Ind., and burial in the cemetery near by.
