Opal Leah Stephens was born January 4, 1899, and departed this life November 2, 1909, aged 10 years, 9 months and 28 days. Opal seemed to have a premonition that she would not get well and before she went to live with the angels at her own request was baptized and said her little prayer. She said she was going to see grandpa and grandma. She was a very affectionate child. One that was loved by all who knew her. Before she went away she bid loved ones good by and as she left this world of sorrow for that heavenly clime she waved her little hands farewell. The funeral services were held at the home by the writer assisted by Rev. J. W. Long of the United Presbyterian church. Scripture lesson, John 14:2-4; I Cor. 15:48-57 and Rev. 22:1-5. Text, Psalm 16:9, last clause. The large audience at the funeral and rich profusion of flowers from loving friends speak louder than words of the sympathy of the community for the bereaved family. Father, mother, little brother, grandpa and grandma Stephen and many other relatives are left to mourn. Dear little Opal is now in heaven with grandpa and grandma Hamilton, Jesus and the angels. We laid the little earthly body away to rest in the Owaneco cemetery till the blessed resurrection morning. Thus another of earth's precious treasures has been transferred to that heavenly clime. Let us all strive to meet little Opal in that happy land. … J. L. NENIGER.
