Ulysses Sherman Wood
ULYSSES SHERMAN, infant son of Charles and Mary C. Wood, died Aug 13th,
1868, aged 2 years, 4 months, and 1 day. Little did we think, at little
Sherman's funeral, that the mother would follow so soon. How sweet the
memory of loved ones.

Mary C. Wood
MARY C., wife of Charles Wood, of Westfield, Ill., has gone to her rest.
Sister Wood was born Oct. 3d, 1836, and died Sept. 7th, 1868, aged 32 years,
1 month, and 4 days. She became religious, and united with the United
Brethren Church, in her thirteenth year, and from that time to her death was
unexceptionable in Christian character. As a child, she was obedient and
dutiful; as a student at school active, gaining for herself an unblemished
reputation, among teachers and fellow students; as a mother, patient, ever
watching with vigilant care the early instruction of her children; as a
wife, affectionate, and a help indeed; as a Christian, unassuming, yet a
true helper in the gospel. She died as she lived, full of Christian hope and
triumph. Her great concern was for her little son, left behind, and an
absent brother, that they might be religious and meet in heaven, with her
three children gone there. Her loss is deeply felt in the church, at the old
homestead, and among her many relatives and acquaintances. And while we
would submit to the providence of God, we would inquire, on whom shall her
mantle fall?

Davis B. Kibler
DAVIS B., son of Abraham Kibler, died on the morning of Sept. 15th, 1868,
after a long and painful illness, in Augusta Co.,Va., in the 8th year of his
age. God, in wisdom and mercy, has seen best thus early to remove from earth
this fair bud of promise to that brighter clime above.

Gilbert Allen
GILBERT ALLEN died at his residence, in Stockton, Portage County, Wisconsin,
August 18th, 1868, aged 58 years, 4 months, and 13 days. The subject of this
notice was born in New York; emigrated to Wisconsin fourteen years ago, and
was one, of the first to identify himself with the United Brethren Church in
this place. His home was always a home for the missionary, where he could
rest his weary spirit, and hear kind encouragements. His means were freely
given to sustain every interest of the Church. We shall sadly miss him, but
we sorrow not as those who have no hope. We commend the widow and children
to the care of Him who is the widow's God and the orphan's guide.

Elizabeth Alwood
ELIZABETH, wife of Rev. J. K. Alwood, died Sept. 27th, 1868,
near Delta, Ohio, aged 39 years, 11 months, and 21 days. She
leaves an itinerant husband, seven children, and a large circle
of relatives to mourn, but not as those who have no hope.

Amos W. Cole
AMOS W., son of John O. and Mary Ann Cole,
left earth's toils, Sept. 27th, 1868, after a pilgrimage of 17
years, and 8 months. He sought and found a Savior last winter,
and gave his hand to the Church for membership. After an illness
of eight days, he was brought to taste the cold river of death.
But he met it in the triumphs of a common Christianity, that
spake to all the friends, that he landed safe inside of the city
of the living God.

with patience, and gave the fullest satisfaction of her
preparation for the change. The Lord comfort the bereft family.
