Fannie Thomson

FANNIE, daughter of Hugh L. and Margaret A. Thomson, died at her father's residence in Oqueuka, Henderson Co., Ill., Oct. 5th, 1868, aged 19 years, 10 months, and 18 days. The deceased was an acceptable member of the United Presbyterian Church, and a sincere Christian. She was loved and esteemed by all who knew her. How pure, how innocent, how blameless was her life! Her example is worthy of imitation to all. She has left a bereaved father and mother, brothers and sisters, and a large circle of friends, to mourn her early departure; but they mourn not as those who have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.

Reuben Benson

REUBEN BENSON died Oct. 2d, 1868, aged 72 years, 10 months, and 11 days. Father Benson was raised a Quaker. When about thirty-two years of age, at a Methodist camp meeting, he gave his heart to God, found peace, and then united with the Methodist Protestant Church, of which he was a consistent member for about thirty-eight years. About two years ago, he removed from Baltimore, Md., to Littlestown, Pa., and not finding any of Methodist Protestant Christians there he united with the Church of the United Brethren in Christ; and we doubt whether any church ever had a more faithful, consistent member than Father Benson. He served God in life, and died in great peace, at the residence of his son, leaving his wife and children to follow him to the skies.
