For Kevin Keller, Huntington’s math program wasn’t just about the numbers. It was about life experiences, some of which he would never have had anywhere else.
During his senior year, Keller, a 2008 math alum, studied abroad through the Budapest Semesters in Mathematics program at St. Olaf College.
“It was really cool,” he said, adding that he took the minimum course load so that he could travel and experience the culture. “It’s only the best of the best. We were studying with kids from Stanford and really intellectual people.”
Now four years later, Keller works as an associate actuary with Conrad Siegel Actuaries in Harrisburg, Pa.
“I kind of knew I wanted to be an actuary when I was looking for schools, and I knew I wanted to be a math major,” he said.
Keller always had a passion for math, but he also wanted to attend a Christian college. He found what he needed at Huntington.
“Dr. (Francis) Jones was willing to guide me and give me a head start for my job,” he said. “The professors were accessible. They were always there.”
After all of his hard work, Keller graduated in three years and began working at Conrad only a month after graduation, helping with pension and employee health plans.
“I’m happy about my (job) choice,” he said.
