Visiting Executive Seminar examines the harmful effects of electronic communication, social media

Huntington, Ind.—Huntington University’s Visiting Executive Seminar will examine the effects of electronic communication and social media on higher education and human interaction. The seminar will take place from 8:45 a.m. to noon March 26 in the Habecker Dining Commons.

The seminar, led by Jim O’Donnell, associate professor of business and executive-in-residence, and Dr. G. Blair Dowden, president of the university, brings together business leaders and Huntington University business students to discuss important issues in today’s business world.

At this seminar, attendees will examine two articles: “Not So Fast,” from The Wall Street Journal (Aug. 22, 2009), warns of the harm that speed can cause to your life; and “Facebook in a Monastery,” by Gordon College professor John Skillen, describes the new risks excessive technology poses for students.
