The Foresters snapped a six-game losing streak with a 61-49 win over Grace College in Mid-Central Conference action. Despite shooting just 32% in the first half, the Foresters took advantage of 14 Lancer turnovers to take a 27-18 lead at the break. HC started the second half with a 9-3 run behind the shooting of Jessica Ramey, who scored seven of the nine points, to give the Foresters a 36-21 lead. At the 12:54 mark, HC’s Jamie Grogg hit a trey from deep in the left corner for a seemingly insurmountable 16-point lead at 42-26. But the Lancers had other ideas. Over the next ten minutes, Grace out-scored the Foresters 23-10 to pull within three at 52-49 with 2:50 remaining in the game. HC’s defense came to the rescue holding the Lancers scoreless the rest of the way and the Foresters hit 5-6 free throws down the stretch to seal the win. HC’s Amy Berry led all scorers in the game with 16, all in the first half. Joining Berry in double figures was Ramey with 13, Grogg with 11 and Betsey Bean with 10 points and 9 rebounds. Laura Kister had 15 points and 9 rebounds to lead the Lancers. With the win, the Foresters improve to 4-7 on the season and 1-3 in the MCC.
